- Care Difficulty - Easy to Moderate
- We recommend keeping your Platinum in bright, indirect light, avoiding exposure to the summer sun. An hour or two of autumn/winter sunlight is highly beneficial, as long as you keep an eye out for potential droughts. Overhead lighting is key for this species, as locations too far from the window may cause lopsided growth.
- Keep the soil mostly moist, allowing the top third to dry out in between waters. Avoid water-logging or extended periods of soggy-soil as both may weaken its overall health.
- Introduce a pebble tray or humidifier whilst the heaters are operating to counteract the dry air. Wash or gently hose the foliage each month to increase the light-capturing efficiency and hydrate its leaves.
- Fertilize using a 'Houseplant' labelled feed every four waters in the spring and summer, reducing this to every six in the colder months.
- Keep an eye out for Spider Mites that'll form webs on the under-leaves of the plant.
- Repot every two or three years using 'Houseplant' labelled compost; introduce some grit for larger specimens, to strengthen their root system.
